FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Question:

We are very concerned about the confidentiality of the document we need translated. How can you assure us that the documents remain secure while it is in your hands?

Answer: Access Translations works with sensitive documents frequently. We have processes in place to assure confidentiality. As a first step, Access Translations will sign a confidentiality agreement with the client. Any translator or contractor who provides translation services to Access Translations is also required to sign a non-disclosure agreement. Confidential documents are stored in a secure environment, and no proprietary information is ever released. If requested, any original documents that are sent to us are returned to the client.

Question:

How do I know that I will receive a quality translation?

Answer: Access Translations has a long-standing policy of providing sample translations to you before you even place an order. This sample translation will give you a perspective of our high quality work, free of charge. At Access Translations, an independent proofreader and native speaker of the target language proofreads all translations before being released to the customer. Not only will you be receiving quality translations, but you will also receive them without grammar errors, spelling errors, faulty usage, or misplaced commas.

Question:

Can you assure me that the document you are returning to me will be free of viruses?

Answer: All incoming and outgoing documents are scanned with the most up-to-date virus software available. To protect against computer problems, our back-up system maintains a duplicate of all important documents that we receive and send to our clients.

Question:

I need my document translated tomorrow. Can you help?

Answer: Yes. Access Translations has the resources to respond to urgent requests. Typical turn-around time for a 2,000-word document is less than 24 hrs.

Question:

We recently worked with a translation service on a document that needed translating. Upon completion, there were some ambiguities in the translation and we asked for clarification. Unfortunately, the translator handling this project wasn't of much help in establishing clarity and we were forced to do quite a bit of research ourselves to fully understand the intent of the document.
Will you be able to help us in situations like this?

Answer: Ambiguous translations are usually the result of a poorly written source document, a document that had one or more prior translations, or because the translation itself is of poor quality. Our objective is not just to simply deliver a translation to you. Our goal is to help you achieve your objectives by providing you with a high quality translation and follow-up you may request. The project isn't complete until you, the client, have all the information required to meet your needs. Of course, there is no additional charge for this service.

Question:

Will you be using more than one translator to translate my document?

Answer: We typically only use one translator per document to ensure consistency of style and terminology. However, if the document size and turnaround times require the input of more than one translator, special measures are taken to use common glossaries, common databases, and the expertise of a translation coordinator, all to ensure consistency of the document.

Question:

Do you use translation software similar to the type available on the Internet?

Answer: No. Our translators use productivity tools such as terminology databases and software designed to ease the translation process, but we do not subscribe to machine translation (MT) software that is often found on the Internet or sold as software packages. This technology may be sufficient for simple texts and may be appropriate in circumstances in which only a minimum amount of information is to be gleaned from the text. However, for documents that require detailed, accurate translations, currently available machine translation software is clearly insufficient. At Access Translations, we actively monitor the development of machine translation software. Possibly in the future, this software will have evolved to a degree where it can be effectively used for comprehensive translations.
